Angela's Ashes...tell me what you thought!?

This post is for everyone and anyone who has read Angela's Ashes. I working on an ytical response of the memoir by Frank McCourt. Countless memoirs have been published recently, yet Angela's Ashes stands out. In your opinion, what makes this memoir so unique and compelling? I think it has a lot to do with the struggles he faced, the way he wrote about them, and the way we as readers let it affect us and how we make connections to our own childhood. However I'm having difficulties pin pointing specific aspects of the story that make it as great as it is. I'd love to hear our take....feel free to write whatever you feel. Any comment you can make on this topic would help me a lot as I currently have writer's block.
