Zelda: Oracle of Seasons help?

im at the part where i just got the Kangaroo and talked to the sleeping puppy thing again. Its winter and Im trying to get to the next Subrosian portal but their is a big snow bank in the way. I'm at a loss. I have even tried jumping over the holes in the ground to get there, but the kangaroo wont go that far. Please help Im so confused and im absolutely stuck. Please help!
