Did you know if you put sour skittles in diet mountain dew it explodes?

Some kid told me to try it so i used my friends because she didnt like it. We put the skittles in and she turned around and told me this is stupid because nothing was happening then it exploded her hand lol. Just wondering did anyone know that?
